Firefighting with foam

Firefighters in Vancouver are starting to use a foam additive in their water in an effort to improve performance and reduce environmental damage. The amount of water used for firefighting can be quite considerable, and when the water drains into storm sewers, it can contaminate the environment by carrying along burned pollutants.
