The radon threat to health
February 3, 2008

Nebraska's health officials are encouraging homeowners to check their homes for radon, an odorless and colorless gas that occurs in naturally high levels all over Iowa and Nebraska. Prolonged exposure to high levels of radon can cause cancer. Radon can often be controlled by the same vapor barriers that are used to prevent moisture from working its way into a home's structural elements from the ground -- moisture that can lead to problems like black mold.
