Midwest earthquake could have contaminated some water wells

The small earthquake and recent aftershocks in southern Illinois may have compromised some water wells even in places like Iowa, exposing them to bacteria that had previously been isolated away from the wells. Well water can be disinfected by chlorination or ultraviolet radiation.
