Lots of North Platte removed from flood zones
July 1, 2008

Much of North Platte, Nebraska, has been removed from a FEMA-designated flood zone, which means that much of the city's property will no longer have to carry mandatory flood insurance. Stormwater control systems can help reduce the impact of flooding in case of extraordinary disasters, and battery-backup sump pumps can help reduce the risk of basement flooding in case of power outages.
