Federal government releases $8 million for free environmental aid to livestock farmers
June 6, 2007

The EPA is looking for an organization that would use a $7.9 million grant to deliver "technical assistance to livestock operators, including animal feeding operations, for the prevention of water discharges and reduction of air emissions." Part of the project is intended to figure out ways to sustainably dispose of the more than 500 million tons of animal waste generated each year by those kinds of farms.
