Legionnaires' Disease outbreak in Holland
July 12, 2006

Legionella, the bacteria that causes Legionnaires' Disease, has been discovered in almost 20 cases in Holland. While no common cause has been identified yet, one potential source is contaminated water in heating and cooling systems, as well as in hot-water heaters. The bacteria grows best in warm water. Ultraviolet disinfection has been proven to kill Legionella bacteria.
