An excise tax on exported ethanol?

Lawmakers in Nebraska may consider imposing a tax on ethanol for export out of the state when they return to session next year. Ethanol has turned out to be a major industry in Iowa and Nebraska, with both significant economic benefits for many communities and important environmental effects as well.
