China's massive dam threatens to create environmental catastrophe

The Three Gorges Dam in China is a $25 billion (or more) project intended to supply huge amounts of hydroelectric power to the growing economy. But the head of the dam's construction says that soil erosion, landslides, and water pollution are putting the environment at severe risk.
