Iowa Supreme Court holds city responsible for contractors' deaths

The Iowa Supreme Court has decided that the City of Des Moines must share in the legal responsibility for the deaths of two contractors who were working on a sewer-repair project in the city in July 2002. The ruling suggests that Iowa municipalities need to exercise extreme caution when advising employees and contractors of safety risks when working with their water and wastewater systems.
