University of Iowa professor Jerald Schnoor has been awarded the Athalie Richardson Irvine Clarke Prize in water research by the National Water Research Institute, particularly recognizing his work on the use of plants to remove toxic chemicals from the water. That process is known as phytoremediation, and Schnoor literally wrote the book on the subject.
