Nebraska State Government to Buy Water from Irrigators, Release to Kansas

March 31, 2006

Kansas and Nebraska have a complicated legal arrangement that governs their use of common rivers (especially the Republican River). The state of Nebraska, in order to improve its compliance with the interstate agreement, is going to buy water rights from irrigators in the Middle Republican NRD and release it to Kansas.
